Fandom High Office, Tuesday, August 1
Aug. 1st, 2006 06:31 amThere was sound in the office again and the lighting issues had been fixed. That was the good thing.
The bad thing was that there was a showdown by the water cooler. Jerry from accounting and Mike from the guidance office stood there, staring each other down, hands at their sides holding filled cups of water, ready to draw and fire... or water, as the case may be.
The rest of the office was watching keenly from the side, focusing on Jerry's staring eyes, then Mike's staring eyes, then Jerry's cup, then Mike's cup, then a long shot of Jerry, then a long shot of Mike from Jerry's hip level... As a tumbleweed passed, it was then that Jerry wondered why everyone was crowding around, looking at the impending action from behind him and slightly to the side, and why they had been shifting around at other awkward angles as well.
That break in concentration was all the opportunity Mike needed.
"Aw, man, now I'm all wet, you jerk," Jerry from accounting said. Somewhere in the background, Bob Gremlin started playing piano as the saloon opened up for business again. And by that I mean "thirsty people could get water from the water cooler without being stared down for interupting the moment like poor Annie from legal was two minutes ago."
