It was Homecoming. The office staff had barricaded the doors. They didn't want any ex-students with a grudge coming looking for them.

Actually, they didn't want any students coming looking for them, full stop, ex or otherwise, grudge or otherwise.

With a grunt, they managed to shove the photocopier in front of the door and, satisfied, turned their attention back to the golden egg.
