Not really. The staff were hallucinating from caffeine withdrawals.
Something no one had realised (and, in fact, continued not realising) was that the water cooler had been liberally laced with caffeine. But they didn't have to know this to feel the effect of its removal.
At least the donkey in the bowler hat was polite, and doffed its hat whenever it somersaulted over the photocopier.
